 Visualization defies musical practice procrastination

One of the most difficult parts of being a musician is the moment when we need to practise. Usually, practise means hours of repeating and mastering new material. Sometimes it also means improving our technique and finding ways of expressing the piece.

But there is another aspect of practising that many of musicians tend to underestimate. It's mental practice. Analysing a piece in your mind, imagining the practice is a way more creative way of finding the right path to follow in terms of mastering a piece - mastering it in our mind's eye before we even approach the piano. This way we are not limited by our habits, we can explore and stay fresh with our approach.
