Learning about musical sentences

By definition, in its simplest way, the musical sentence is an 8-measure theme, that consists of two different phrases.
The first phrase is the Presentation phrase and the second is called the Continuation phrase in which the Presentation phrase begins the sentence and the Continuation phrase (or a couple of them) leads to the cadence. With the cadence one musical sentence is finished.
Why is so important to learn more about the musical sentence? Simple, because the understanding of one composition is the key to be successful in its interpretation.

Arnold Schoenberg was first who gave us the concept of the musical sentence and how its parts are related to each other. Juan Rezzuto, as Director of WKMT talks more about it.
